First Day of Preschool!

I can't believe it!  I actually dropped my baby off at preschool yesterday morning.  I couldn't stop smiling as I walked out to my car alone with three hours to choose for myself.  I admit, I giggled a bit and couldn't stop smiling.  It helps that this little guy couldn't stop smiling either:
I was just blown away at his cuteness yesterday and how grown up he is.
He told me school was fun.  They have a truck there that is awesome.  He loved painting a chameleon.  He went outside.  He ate cheese crackers.  Some books fell right off the wall.  He can't wait to go again.
It was fun to hear his report and see him smile.  I'm glad he's happy to go to school.
And honestly, I need these six quiet hours a week to myself.  My journal has been patiently waiting for my return.  :)
Happy Preschool Oliver!

Cooper: School and Soccer

The first week of full-day kindergarten was a bit up and down for Cooper.  It will take some getting used to.  He came home his first day claiming school was "boring and lousy" which made my little heart full of worry, but the second day was "way way way way better".  He goes between seeming extremely happy to having meltdowns.  I think it's a lot to take in for him.  He's used to long stretches of his day outside alone in his quiet world.  I think he will find a rhythm.  I think he will find joy in school.  I hope so.  His teacher posted this cute picture during class.
Cooper also started soccer for the first time.  His first game a such a joy to watch.  He ran at full speed for an hour and even scored a goal!  I'm glad he can have a try with soccer.  He certainly has the energy for it!

Oliver and Fruit

Since school started, I've had a lot of time to spend with Oliver!  We've had such lovely days playing and enjoying the quiet.  We have fun eating lunch together each day, like a little date!  Here is his goose machine.  He claims if you use the orange lever it will turn you into a goose.
He's getting excited for preschool.  The open house was a success.  He wants to go back!
And my new stove came!!!  It's beautiful and a bit intimidating with all it's gas burners but I've already been having a lot of fun baking and canning fruit.  Here is my giant pot of applesauce.
 See how pretty?!?!
peaches, pears, and applesauce.  Welcome fall!

First Day of Kindergarten!

Finally, the first day of kindergarten!  Cooper claimed he was not excited, but I didn't believe him for a minute!  He also claimed that he wasn't nervous.  And that, I believed!  I didn't even cry like when I dropped Ethan off at kindergarten, but it feels weird...I'm not gonna lie!  Oh Cooper, I love you!

Gold Mine Trail

Labor Day was the perfect day to hike The Gold Mine Trail.  I guess you could say that the stars all aligned because all four kiddos were happy as can be while we hiked the three mile round trip hike.
The trail was beautiful.  The weather was just right for hiking.  I was even a bit chilly at one point, which is so much better than being hot!
Ethan and Cooper always took off ahead of the rest of us.  They'd hike until they found a good waiting spot and then would sit until we caught up.  Oliver led the rest of us.  Madeline was his perfect buddy and it was fun to hear them chat along the trail.
Such a pleasant hike when the children are pleasant.  I wish every day could be like this.  But I'm grateful for the ones we get.

pulling a silly face because his walking stick broke.

The mine was full of water.  Madeline and Cooper were disappointed we couldn't go in, and the other boys didn't seem to mind.  They're less adventurous like their mother.

Overall, it was a wonderful way to spend our morning.  I love my people.  I'm glad Todd took us on such a nice hike.

A Raccoon and a Walk

We were sitting at the table in the middle of the day when this guy decided the walk through our yard!  We all jumped up to stare.  :)
Later we went on a walk and it was so lovely that I propped my phone in the tree and made everyone take a picture.
But we never saw the raccoon again.
