Rose Bows for Babies

Another project I've worked on this week are little rose hair accessories.

These two I wrapped up as a baby shower gift
And this one I hooked on a barrette for Madeline to wear with her dress. This is part of why she hasn't worn her dress yet . . . I wanted to make this to go with it:

April's Ten Things

I can't believe that April is nearly over. It seems like March was just last week. Today, I'm linking up with Emmy Mom to share:

Ten Things to Smile About This Month!
1. I have a new nephew
2. Spring is here, with all the beautiful flowers!
3. We were able to enjoy General Conference on Easter Sunday
4. Todd and I were able to dress up and go to a Ball
5. I painted my basement, and now I'm starting to decorate!
6. I started a book list with Ethan of all the books he reads. As of April 14th, he's read 52 books to me!
7. I started AND finished this dress for Madeline:
8. Craving, making, and eating Banana Cake all in one day
9. Having this face to see when you need cheering up
10. And discovering my love affair with taking pictures of food . . .
What do you have to smile about this month?

Homemade Art for My New Room

This past weekend, I made a little homemade art. All it took was three 10x10 canvases, some really cute fabric (mine is from IKEA), and a staple gun.

I cut the fabric out 14x14 so I would have enough room to wrap it around the canvases, and then I folded the corners just like a present.
I really like how they turned out, and am excited to hang them . . .
in my newly painted room!:
No more firetruck red walls!
The room isn't finished yet. I still need to repaint the trim. It currently is an old off-white color which is starting to yellow. I'll be repainting it pure white.
Part of me wanted to wait until the whole room was decorated before posting any pictures. But, knowing my budget, that could take a LONG time, so now you'll just have to see the step by step progress. I'm planning the whole room in black and white decor.
I must say, it's fun to have a place to decorate!

Mimi's Flowers

To me, my mom's yard in the Spring is the most beautiful thing in the world. She always has countless tulips in every color. And other gorgeous plants as well! So with the storm coming today, I took advantage of the nice weather yesterday and we went over to take some pictures.

First, Madeline's favorite:

"Popping Corns Trees!"
I am in love with the numbers of popping corns trees in my neighborhood too. They line every street and take my breath away. Seriously!
I love taking pictures of flowers
And Ethan loves to smell them:
He also loves to hug his sister:
Inspecting the yellow and black centers:
Smells like Spring!
And looks like it too!

I love Mimi's yard . . .

Some Random Facts

When I put the last stitch in Madeline’s dress, I had this much thread left:
Ethan’s favorite breakfast is a mix of Berry Berry Kix, Honey Nut Chex, and Honey Nut Cheerios.

My husband is currently taking the PE Exam, a test to become a professional engineer. It lasts eight hours and we won’t get the results back for four months. But I know he’ll do great. I love you, Todd!

A big portion of my downstairs is currently covered in primer.

A New Dress for Madeline Jean

Today I finished this dress for Madeline:

It was quick, quite easy, and surprisingly enjoyable. There is just something really fun about making tiny things. I'll most likely make her another in different fabric. Maybe add an extra ruffle or something so it's a little different. . .

Eventually, I'll take and post pictures of Madeline wearing it!

Love Hugs

When they woke up from naps and saw each other, it was like Christmas for them. They ran to each other and hugged. They stayed that way for a long time, and I heard them say:

"I love you!"
"I love you too Ethan!"
And then they giggled and hugged some more! And it made my day, even to the point where I forgot about all the parts that weren't so happy. :)

Rose Headbands

I've been wanting flower headbands for some time now, and so I was happy when I found this link. Calamity Kim teaches how to make just the kind of fabric flowers that I was imagining in my head. They are surprisingly easy, quick, and very fun.

This headband has two roses made from 5 inch squares, and the center is made from an 8 inch

Adding feathers makes it fun - perhaps I'll make a peacock one next!
And since the headbands look better when they are actually ON someone, you get to see pictures of me. I didn't have a model . . .

ps- I purchased the plain headbands at Hobby Lobby

Easter Basket Hunt

The kids had fun searching for their Easter Baskets

Madeline just followed Ethan . . . like she always does!

But once he found his, she could venture out and find hers

And in the end, they were both quite pleased!
