February's Ten Things

In random order, here are ten things that made me smile this month:

1.  Cooper's two new little teeth!  Which you can't even see in this picture, but now that they are really poking out, I should try to take another so you can see.  Because they are really cute!

 2.  Ethan's chipper and cute way of chatting with me while he cleaned the microwave.

 3.  Madeline's "I love the USA" art from school.  LOL!  Notice how she even drew Utah.

 4.  Cooper sitting in his highchair

 5.  I had a fun girl's night out.  again.

6.  My date night with Todd the day after Valentine's day also made me smile.

7.  Todd's birthday sign (and the whole day)

 9.  This little guy slept through the night this month.  Once, but hey, I'll take it!

10.  The fact that it was snowing a lot today and I DIDN'T have to go out in it.

Valentine Pictures

We always enjoy a fancy family dinner on Valentine's Day.  Todd and I went out the following night for our date.

 Little heart strawberries on the plates and floating raspberries in the juice were nice little touches.

 And I made my first jello mold, which kind of made me chuckle because it's a jello mold, but it turned out cute and festive and my kids really like jello.

 Even our walls were decorated.

 We enjoyed heart shaped pizza as well.

But in the end, it was rather anticlimactic after my day of hype making the fancy desserts and decorating everything.  There was mild bickering about whether the lights should be turned on or off and the pizza was a few minutes over-cooked for my liking since I was putting Cooper down for his evening nap.  The desserts turned out scrumptious but my kids would have been just as pleased with a store-bought cookie.  Maybe in the future, I'll save the time and money of making fancy treats for dinner parties or something.  You know, because I host so many of those...cough.  :)

My date with Todd the following night was so fantastic though that it made up for it.  Perhaps next year, I'll think up a new twist to make our dinner a little more exciting.

Happy Valentine's Day!

So far, I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in the kitchen making these:

Five Months Old

He loves to stick out his tongue,

 and he squeals with delight when he sees his brother and sister.

 He loves looking at his hands and yesterday he discovered his toes!

 He rolled over this week from tummy to back and now he loves his rice cereal.

He's growing up too fast for this mama.

I must cherish every moment.

In Case You're Wondering

My longest stretch of sleep last night:  3 hours.

IN-CRED-I-BLE ! ! !

I put Cooper to bed last night at 8:15 PM.

After some cleaning, a little reading, and some crocheting, I went to bed myself at 10.

What felt like a few seconds later, my eyes fluttered open and gazed up at the light streaming through my blinds.  Morning light.

My head popped up and read the clock.  7:04 AM.

What the?!?!?!?  What happened to my baby?  Is he still alive?!?!?

He woke up at 7:15, exactly ELEVEN hours after going to bed.  ELEVEN HOURS!!!!!  He has never slept more than six in a row and the times he has done that can be numbered on one hand.  Usually it's two or three, sometimes four hour stretches.  And somehow, he slept eleven.

And me, I slept NINE glorious uninterrupted hours.

Incredible.

I know I can't count on it happening again anytime soon, but I can be extremely grateful that it happened once and HOPE and HOPE it does happen again.

Because sleep...I really, really, really like it.

Happy Birthday Todd!

Yesterday was Todd's birthday.  The kids made him a sign:

 The brown and green things are guitars and in the upper right corner you can see him as "King of the house" next to his giant cherry chip cake.  And speaking of cherry chip cake...

 Todd took the day off, and it was fun to go to breakfast together while the two older kids were at school.

 We went out to dinner with Todd's parent's too and that was really fun as well.  The kids were the most excited about the opening of presents,

 and Todd was nice enough to humor me for a pic with his cake.

Happy Birthday Babe!  I love you so much!  Here's to another fabulous year, and hopefully countless cherry chip cakes to come!  xoxo

Rice Cereal

This little guy liked trying rice cereal for the first time last night,

 but promptly spit it all out tonight.
