October's Ten Things
I think I skipped this post last month . . . I think I may have skipped a lot of things last month though, but now I'm back joining with Emmy Mom to share October's Ten Things to Smile about:
1. I have this cute little guy in my life:
2. We celebrated my Mom's birthday with treats and gifts and good company
3. I loved General Conference
4. Tubby Time
5. Cooper's hair after tubby time
6. Madeline calls the baby monitor a Ther-monitor
7. Every time I've stepped on a scale, the number has been less! (Except when I'm holding Cooper, then it goes up almost 12 pounds!)
8. We had fun going to a dinner party with Todd's friends and their spouses. My older kids went to Mimi's and Cooper came with us. He was a hit with the women, as you might guess.
9. Playing in the leaves
10. Last night we carved pumpkins!

Playing in the Leaves
Ethan and Madeline were so excited to play in the leaves today. They went straight out after breakfast while still in their pjs, wearing snow boots and gloves and mittens because it was in the 30s. Madeline couldn't find her mittens, so she used mine. We'll have to dig out all the winter stuff soon I guess, it's been cold!
and throwing them in the sky
and making leaf angels too.
But then we were frozen and went inside. No one ever said fun had to last more than six minutes!

Homemade Cheese Crackers
Yesterday, after church, the kids and I had a grand time making homemade cheese crackers!
We mixed the dough, rolled it out, punched out the circles, and pricked the centers.Fun and easy to do with the kids. Recipe here.
They had a great time helping me. But eating them . . . no. They did NOT like them. Apparently, why try and mess with cheez-it's?
I for one, think they are delicious. Which is the problem. That's just what I need after having a baby and trying to trim my waist - a container full of buttery cheese crackers that only I like to eat.
Hmmm, next time I might need to let the kids help me make a veggie tray!

A Comparison Pic and some Ramblings
I've had a few people express interest in seeing Ethan at one month old. He did, after all, wear the exact same thing that day. So here you go. I'm surprised at how much different they look after thinking they were exactly the same at birth. Ethan's hair was lighter, stuck out in all directions, and was already starting to fall out by one month. Turns out, Cooper looks more like Madeline did than Ethan did. They still look similar, but the hair changes so much of the look!
And speaking of Ethan, here's the latest picture of him. His hair still sticks out in all directions, but at least it doesn't fall out anymore. In this picture though, more than his hair is sticking out - check out that bump! He got whacked at school by the zipper of a fast flying jacket. But all is well, I'm just glad it didn't get his eye!A quick story:
While looking through Ethan and Madeline's baby pictures (they are loving this!) we stumbled upon one where Todd was holding sleeping newborn Ethan on his chest while he played with his PALM PILOT! It kinda cracked me up, especially when I had to explain to the kids what it was. The next day, Ethan came up to me and asked, "Hey Mom, what was the name of that old-fashioned ipod again?"
Made me feel just a wee bit old.
And don't even get me started about the dinner conversation we had the other night where Todd was trying to explain to the kids why a slideshow is called a slideshow and life before digital. A camera where you can't immediately see the pictures? Hu? What are you talking about Dad?!

One Month Old
Cooper is one month old today. I cannot believe it. What a crazy month. What an incredible month. It was such a blur and a ride of emotions. Today I am just happy. He's so fun. So cute. And sweet. They kids just adore him. They talk with him, play by him, show him things, and laugh at his every move. It's a little scary though, how fast it goes. I'm savoring every moment best I can.

The Kids
Todd and I helped Ethan make this haunted house for school:
Spooky! And Madeline had fun talking to Cooper before she headed off to dance class.
She likes to show her toys to him too and he's getting pretty good at tracking objects.

A Few Things from this Week
and no, sleep is not one of them! :)
We went to Grandpa and Nana's farm and picked pumpkins
Well, the kids did with Todd and Grandpa (who was nice enough to take pictures for me!)
I stayed inside with Nana and the babe and tried to stay awake sitting on the couch! Good fun was had by all. We ate donuts too, and the kids even picked a cute pumpkin for Cooper.
It finally got cool enough that I could wear my fabulous hat - a gift from my sister - and feel a little more cute than zombie.
And Cooper is now three weeks old.
This picture, though blurry, is my favorite! Almost a smile there when awake.
I love you little one, and I'll try to be patient while you figure out that 1:30 AM is not playtime.
