My Soccer Boy

Yesterday was Ethan's very first soccer game ever!  He was a little nervous, but mostly excited, and sure looked great in his new uniform.  He was a great sport about letting me take his picture before the game too.

Before the game started, they each got to practice kicking goals (see below).  Too bad this wasn't during the game, right?  He did good during the game, kept up with the ball and kicked it a few times too.  I have to admit, he got a lot of my un-aggressive/ noncompetitive genes, but I think with more practice he'll be able to overcome them.  :)
He also has learned how to kneel around his coach and listen and focus on what his coach is saying.  He's never been on a team before, so this has been a great experience.  Their team name is The Sharks, and he's had fun shouting with his team, "Go Sharks!"
At this age, it's mostly bunch ball, but they had fun.  The Sharks didn't win this time, but no one seemed to mind.  It is all about fun and I think that was definitely accomplished!

Todd used to play soccer with a kid named Dallas. He was tall, had strong legs, and was not aggressive. But, he was positioned on defense and whenever the ball came towards out goal Dallas would kick it to the other end of the field -- totally demoralizing to the other team.

Ethan may be Dallas-II
